In a world engrossed in moral showboating Bex Blayney’s work challenges codes of behaviour with humour to raise questions about the morality of our current political state.

Her works are sculptural machines with anthropomorphic qualities which sometimes create a sense of danger, whilst the ambiguity of the sculptures can equally leave the viewer uncertain. Sometimes performative, Blayney’s work carries out repetitive actions which symbolise the Sisyphean cycle of the everyday in our very mixed-up world, with a knowing sense of absurdity at its core.

Bex Blayney works in a diverse range of media, selected according to their relevance to each individual work, through materiality and the story each material in itself tells.  Often the materials are contradictory to subject matter and have a transformative quality that invites us to question the validity of the world and objects around us.
